Unit 12
A downloadable game for Windows
Playtest
Three in the morning. A prowler report at a remote sheep station in Tierra del Fuego, at the far southern tip of Chile. You are going alone, because there is nobody else.
You are the corporal running unit twelve. The man who called in reported it three times and has now stopped answering. Your nearest backup is on the other side of the strait, and the ferry does not cross until nine. Everything you have on you is a half-charged flashlight, a phone with GPS, and three road flares that expired last year.
Nobody told you that you were not the first one sent out here.
Note: the game default language is Chilean Spanish, there's an option to change it to english.
What it is
Unit 12 is a first-person survival horror with PSX-era visuals, set in the far south of Chile. There are no weapons. There is nothing you can kill. The only thing you can do about what walks that field is see it before it sees you, and run.
How it works
- Light gives you away. The flashlight lets you see, and at the same time makes you the brightest thing in the forest. The creature picks you out from far further away while it is on — and pointing the beam straight at it puts it on alert even from behind.
- Noise draws it in. Sprinting, using the GPS and searching through packs all make noise. Noise gets investigated.
- Flares repel, they do not kill. Nothing out there can be killed. All you can buy yourself is a few seconds.
- Four tasks, one way out. In any order: the keys, a part for the engine, cutting the force field, and finding the caretaker. Every one you finish tightens the screw.
- Three endings, depending on who you get out of there and at what cost.
